Fiesta February

Sharing is caring!

So far this February (and January too) hasn’t been much of a travel month for me. Instead of spending my weekends on trains, planes and buses, I spent it getting to know Logroño better. And by getting to know Logroño better, I mean get to know Logroño at night better. I am keeping up with my New Year’s Resolution to be more sociable. So here is a photo diary that highlights some of my favorite social occasions of January and February in Logroño.

They include watching the Madrid verus Barcelona soccer matches (The Superbowl of Spain), a few girl’s night out, sometimes you need a night out with your ladies, how else will you run into a group of 10 Italian men from Naples? (What.a.night!) One of my favorite evenings was hanging out in J’s merendero and making chuletón (steaks) that you cook yourself right on the table. Delicious! The icing on the cake was celebrating carneval last weekend in Logroño. Think Mardi Gras and Halloween’s love child times 10. Last year I went to one of the biggest carneval celebrations in spain in Cádiz, but now since I am on the other side of the country, I decided to just go out with friends and see how it’s celebrated in my town. Pretty much a crazy weekend of costumes and dancing til dawn that can only happen in Spain. I am still recovering.

This Thursday I am off to Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands for some fun in the sun. I can’t wait to lay on the beach in the sun and work on my tan. After these frigid past few weeks, I need some warm weather STAT. I will fill you guys in my island adventures soon!

Can you guess which Harry Potter characters we were? Have you ever celebrated carneval? And most importantly, are you a Madrid or Barca fan? Have you ever been to Lanzarote? Any must-sees or tips for me?

  1. Wellllll, it’s so obvious you were Luna. By the looks of the pink hair, that other girl was Tonks. You had a Harry Potter (sir!) as well. I’m not sure who the girl in gold is …?

I like the Logroño photos; it’s nice to see “daily life” in Spain (even if it is mostly nightlife).
