Wow, has it been hot so far this summer in New Zea Wow, has it been hot so far this summer in New Zealand with plenty of 30+ degree days down here in Canterbury! While both my partner Giulio as well as my exotic houseplants thrive in the heat, after all they are both tropical (Giulio gere up in Ecuador), I’ve struggled to stay cool both at home and at NODE. In fact, I can’t really sleep or concentrate when I’m overheated. Now that my days are spent in greenhouses, you can see this becoming a problem. Can you relate?
.
Luckily, I’ve discovered @evapolar this summer, my own personal air cooler. Founded to challenge the AC industry (which we can all get behind, am I right?), Evapolar is both a cheaper and more sustainable system to create a personal cooling zone instead of cooling an entire room, which wastes amounts of energy and money. Made from recycled plastic with biodegradaple pieces and using only 10W of power from a USB cable, it’s definitely a eco friendly option this summer. Can I get a hell yes?
.
Now you can find me toting around my evaCHILL which is a lightweight, ultraportable evaporative air cooler, which I place next to me while I work so it blows directly on my hot face. It’s divine! In fact, Giulio and I fight over it on the hottest days when he is cooking, which makes me think it’s time to nab a second one. I can’t wait to take it on the road with me this summer around New Zealand so I can sleep at night. What do you think? Have any tips for staying cool this summer? Spill.

The landscapes around Ireland are some of my favor The landscapes around Ireland are some of my favorite in the world! Big views, big history, and people with big stories! Could it get any better? No one can spin a good yarn quite like the Irish! Have you ever traveled somewhere and just felt pure joy at every turn? Ireland is one of those places that delivers so much that people like me look for. I know once the world starts to come right, I’ll be heading from one island to another, from New Zealand to Ireland in search of new adventures in a familiar place. To see old friends and make new ones too.
.
It’s so easy to get out into nature here, from lush forests full of legends to wild coastlines to windswept walks among rugged hills, Ireland is a safe and comfortable place to explore, knowing you’re in for a good time. I wonder when I can get back?

I found my mind drifting this week to some of my o I found my mind drifting this week to some of my older adventures around the world, especially Europe. Nostalgia for crumbling castles, cobblestones, and of course, the good old pub life. From adorable seaside towns to lovely B&B’s to old houses (not in Paris) covered in vines to charming cafes where you can squirrel away in on a rainy day, Ireland has no shortage of charming locals and haunts. I have found the more and more I travel over the years, the more I lookout for places that feel comfortable and homey, places I almost could imagine myself living in. Ireland definitely tugged at the heartstrings, and it’s high on my list of places to return to once the world begins to right itself again.

Once a traveler, always a traveler. My desire to k Once a traveler, always a traveler. My desire to keep returning to places I’ve been and loved, to get to know them better, has only grown as I’ve gotten older. Can you relate? I don’t know about you guys but I’m already thinking about where I can go once travel is safe again. Ireland was one of the first places I ever backpacked when I was just 19 years old (pre-iPhone days), and where I found myself drawn to again and again. Between the ancient forests, the wild coastlines, unforgettable locals, and big skies, Ireland gets under your skin and stays there forever.
.
A veritable melting pot of historic cities, charming towns, and a ton of epic adventures out in nature, Ireland has long appealed to me as a place to escape the crowds and breathe in their wide-open spaces. How rare it is to find such a place steeped in history yet still so unspoiled. In many ways, Ireland still feels untouched and the scenery is some of my favorite in the world. Each region packs such a punch with plenty of folks spinning yarns with curious travelers like me. Sigh, when can I go back?

Who is Young Adventuress?

Hi, I'm Liz, and I got my first taste for traveling when I was 16 years old. On my own, 12 years and 50 something countries later, my wanderlust has only grown and the list of countries I want to visit longer. After living in Spain for the past few years and returning home for a stint, I then quit my job and moved to New Zealand and I've been here ever since. Follow my misadventures as I wander, eat, and photograph my way around the world
