So the first weekend in April I was in the UK visiting my friend Jo in Brighton and had an AMAZING time! Saturday we took the train into London for the day, met up with some of her friends, and had surprisingly good weather. Since this was probably my fifth or sixth trip to Europe’s biggest city, I wasn’t in rush to do a lot of sight seeing, rather just spend the day around local haunts and just experiencing the incredible vibe there. After collecting everyone, we took the tube over to the London Bridge stop and walked over to Borough Market next to the Southwark Cathedral.
One thing I love about London is all the markets. There are tons everywhere. Borough Market sells food, ranging from fruits, meats, and veggies, to gourmet cuisine from all over the world. We walked around and oo-ed and ah-ed over all the colorful, fancy dishes before grabbing lunch and sitting out on the grass in the sun next to the cathedral.
Afterward, we walked along the south bank of the river Thames, saw some more food markets and perused some used book markets under the Millennium Bridge. We headed into the Tate Modern to use the toilet before heading back out and continuing our exploring. We then caught the tube up to Hyde park and sat in the grass as the sun began to set sipping tea and eating some delicious cakes. We did a little shopping before sitting down at a delicious Mexican market restaurant called Wahaca in Soho for dinner. All in all it was an incredible, market-filled day!
Wish I knew about the Borough Market the last time I was in London. Oh well, there’s always another trip! ^_^
Loved it!
Borough market is definitely one of the best parts of London!
Sounds like a great trip.
