100th blog post!

Sharing is caring!

First off, I just have to say that this is my 100th blog post! I am giddy that I actually kept up with this blog and have made it this far! Blogging has become very important to me over the past year and half. Last winter in Córdoba, it became my outlet when things didn’t go well. I threw myself into writing, trying to imagine new ideas, interesting posts about Spain. At first I thought that only my friends and family would be interested in what I have to say, but slowly people I didn’t know started to become followers. Little by little, my follower count grew, my page view number grew, and people started sending me emails and messages. And I rarely get rude emails, but when I do, I try to look at it as a challenge for improvement and try not to let it bother me; I shrug my shoulders, and as we say in Spain, “toma” (rough translation-suck it). I get emails from fellow travelers, from fellow adventures, and from fellow dreamers, asking me for travel advice, sharing their own travel stories, or even just thanking me and saying that they love my blog, telling me that I inspire them-these are the best emails; they always make me smile! These simple little messages inspire me too, so thank you 🙂 Nowadays, this blog is a huge part of me. I generally have about 20 drafts of different posts that I am working on, and I am always trying to think of new and creative things to write about. In fact, I have become such a blog dork, if I am not careful, I bring it up in everyday conversation. “Oh I wrote about that one time in my blog” or “that would make such an awesome blog topic” “and “oh wow, I have to take a picture of that for my blog.” What people must think of me! But in all seriousness, I don’t really care what people think; this blog is my baby and I am a proud parent. Happy 100th post day!

So don’t be afraid to start a blog; don’t be afraid of failure; (don’t be afraid to be a blog dork) and most importantly, my own personal mantra, don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone and travel the world. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Have a blog? Post a link in the comments so I can check it out! I love reading other blogs.

*also, I suck, and if I have an email from you sitting in my inbox, I promise I will reply soon!

  1. thanks Rachael, I just started following you, looking forward to hearing more about your adventures.

Thanks Mary-Ryan, I just started following you too. I love your blog. The transition is going really well, I love living in the north (actually a lot more than in the south haha). It is not so cold here, esp. since I went to college in New England, Spain is a warm paradise all year round haha. also, my piso in Cordoba last year didn’t have heat, so its much better up here. come up and visit sometime:D

  2. I´m also an auxiliar and my first class was cancelled on me after I´d walked 15 minutes here in the pouring rain. Sounds about right, huh? Haha. Anyways, I came across your blog and I like-y so far! How is the transition from Southern to Northern Spain going? I´m thinking of doing the same thing for my second year but I´m not sure about the COLD! Maybe when I have more time I´ll be able to go through some older posts and find the answer here myself. Besitos! MR
