I was just accepted at the Travel Blog House!
Now, what is the TBEX travel blog house you might ask? As I was perusing my usual travel blogs a week or so ago, I came across a post from Adventurous Kate. In September the TBEX Europe conference will be held in Girona on the Costa Brava (TBEX=Travel Bloggers Exchange). Pretty cool that they’re hosting such a big travel blogging conference right on my backdoor, right?
It gets even better. Kate from Adventurous Kate, Michael from Go, See, Write, Cailin from Travel Yourself and the Taste of Travel, Michael from Art of Backpacking and Stephanie from Twenty-Something Travel teamed up to host a travel blog villa for up and coming bloggers (like myself).
The prize? 3 days stay at a luxury villa hosted by Charming Villas Catalonia in Besalú near Girona before the conference with these veteran travel bloggers and personal guidance along with getting to pick their brains about the travel blogging industry. Does it get much better than that?

Last week I sent in my application, expecting not to get picked but lo and behold, I finished class tonight to an email from them offering me a spot! I might have danced around my apartment in glee to the amusement of my neighbors.
This past year I have come leaps and bounds with my blog, but I know I have a lot further to go before making it as a travel writer. Going to this conference, along with TBU in Porto in a few weeks, is just the kick I need to take the next step. It was also the encouragement I needed to stay in Spain for a few extra weeks before heading home in September, though I might be risking international incarceration (long story).
Anyways, I am so excited about all that I am going to learn about the travel industry. Turning my blog into a business and becoming a travel writer has been a secret dream of mine for years, and now it looks like I am taking one step closer to making it a reality! Having two such international travel blogging conferences being held within easy travel distance of me seems like fate, and getting this spot at the travel blog house is like a dream come true.
Now I must be off to celebrate with champagne and ice-cream!
Be sure to keep up with my adventures in Portugal and the Costa Brava on my new facebook page!
**Update, read about my experience at the Blog House here!
