Ok, so I have been seriously neglecting my blog as of late. I am so sorry, and I promise lots of fun posts coming soon! Please forgive me! This past month has been out of control, and I have been crazy busy. I have had so many great adventures, and I can’t wait to share them with you all soon! Since you all know that I love lists, so here is one of everything that is going on right now in my life.
1. This is my last week of work in Espejo! I am very happy but also very sad to say goodbye to my school. I really hope I don’t embarrass myself and cry in front of my kids on Thursday!
2. Trying to renew my residency card has been an absolute bitch. I don’t know how to say it better. I literally have been running (and by running, I mean wasting money on taking taxis) all over Córdoba trying to renew the sucker, since it expires on May 31, and I will be here illegally after that. Plus I need it to get back in the country in September. In short, after weeks of screaming fights with several different idiots who work for the Spanish government in Andalucía, all of whom do not know how to be nice nor the laws concerning foreign students in Spain, it turns out I have to go all the way to Logroño in La Rioja to renew the stupid card. Oh, and before May 31. Yes that’s right, I have to travel 1000 miles in two days to turn in a sheet of paper. Thanks Spain. End rant.
3. On the bright side, I just bought the most beautiful pair of sandals. I’m trying to be more positive.
4. On June 1, I am moving to the beach in Málaga for the month. One month of no working and only tanning and swimming. I am beyond excited! Except I will probably die from heat since the apartment I am staying in has no AC. Did I mention it has been in the 90’s here everyday?
5. There have been major protests in Spain leading up to the elections yesterday. People are finally complaining about the fact that the economy is a complete mess. It only took seven years, but hey, better late than never.
6. It’s fería in Córdoba right now which means 24/7 partying in flamenco dresses to sevillanas and techno/house. Besides anything by David Guetta and Rihanna, here are some songs which are always on in Spain: David Tavare and Don Omar, oh and Shakira. Get ready to shake your hips and fist pump it out!
7. Speaking of fist pumps, it looks like Sammie and Ronnie are getting back together while filming the next season of the Jersey Shore in Italy. I am so excited for THAT trainwreck to be aired! Yes, I am aware that I just publicly admitted to watching JS.
8. I officially had my latest night out EVER in Spain! I got home and was in bed (after raiding my fridge for unhealthy snacks) at 8am!!! To say that the next day was rough is a massive understatement.
9. I am really glad that I only have one week left of listening to the bats outside my bedroom window here in Córdoba. Bats the animals, not people with bats, because that would be just plain scary. There is also a fat yellow lizard that scurries up my wall perpendicular to my window every day at 3:30 and 9:3o. I live in the f***ing jungle. Also, why don’t they have screened windows in Spain?
10. Can someone please explain to me what all that rapture nonsense was about in the States? I missed it across the pond.
xx Liz, more posts coming soon 🙂
Hey I am glad you enjoy my blog! I have such crazy adventures and experiences, I figured I might as well share them. It’s not too hard to stay out late in Spain, though 8am is not the norm! Time runs very differently here. I don’t usually eat dinner til 10 or 11. Hope you enjoy my posts!
I recently found your blog and, as a notorious homebody who had to move 100 miles from home for college and promptly got too homesick to take more than 2 years away, love reading about your experience! Please update on all your shenanigans. I believe my latest night was only 4 a.m., so I am quite amazed with your 8 a.m. adventures.
